Eddie Yi, CEO of Ditans Group, embodies the journey from idea-chaser to impactful entrepreneur. His leap began with a single client and a bold decision to prioritize action over perfection. Eddie’s story reveals how combining data-driven strategies with community-focused marketing has helped small and mid-sized businesses grow smarter and faster, all while building trust and measurable success in competitive industries.
Hi, Eddie! Thanks for joining us today. Tell us about your business. Who do you serve, how do you serve them, and what's the impact that your business and work makes?
I'm the CEO of Ditans Group, a digital marketing company that provides revenue-driven solutions for small to mid-sized businesses, especially in the healthcare, legal, and service industries. We specialize in SEO, paid ads (Google/Yelp), content strategy, and lead tracking. I also own and operate companies focused on HR recruiting, dental billing, and automation tools. Our mission is not just to "market" businesses, but to actually increase their revenue. By managing the full marketing funnel from visibility to lead to conversion, we help companies grow faster, smarter, and with data they can trust.
Tell us about the moment you finally felt like you went from wantrepreneur to entrepreneur.
It was when I stopped chasing perfection and started launching. I had dozens of business ideas over the years, but the turning point was when I launched my first HR consulting firm with nothing but a simple deck and a client's need. That client said "yes" and paid me, and suddenly it wasn't just an idea anymore. It was real.
Describe the moment or period in your life/career that motivated you to make the entrepreneurial leap.
During the pandemic, I was working as a healthcare administrator and saw firsthand how broken and outdated many systems were, from marketing to staffing. Instead of just complaining, I started building solutions. One by one, I saw opportunities where my ideas could make a real difference, and that urgency pushed me to leave my job and commit fully to building my own companies.
Describe a tool, service, or software that has been a game-changer for your business. How does it contribute to your success?
Call tracking software integrated with AI. We assign custom phone numbers to our clients so we can track which calls actually come from our marketing efforts, and AI helps us analyze which are real leads. This accountability is what sets us apart and builds trust with our clients, especially those who have been burned before by vague marketing results.
We know that success is very often a non-linear path. Tell us about a failure, pivot point, or lesson that changed your course or direction and helped to get you where you are today.
In the early days, I tried to do everything myself—from copywriting to web dev to client calls. I burned out fast. The real pivot was when I built a team of experts who were better than me in their respective roles. Letting go of control helped my business grow exponentially.
What unconventional strategy did you employ that significantly impacted your business?
Partnering with ethnic media outlets and influencers in specific cultural communities (like Korean radio hosts and restaurant vloggers) has been huge. We tap into trusted voices that already have credibility in tight-knit communities—this niche, hyperlocal approach drives more qualified leads than broad targeting ever did.
What’s something you wish you knew sooner that you’d give as advice for aspiring or newer entrepreneurs?
Done is better than perfect. Most of your progress will come from launching and iterating, not from planning endlessly. Don’t wait for a logo, a perfect website, or the "right time." Get a client. Deliver value. The rest will follow.
