Hi, Mike Ali! Thanks for joining us today. Tell us about your business. Who do you serve, how do you serve them, and what's the impact that your business and work makes?
I run OnPath Marketing, an AI automation agency. We build AI voice agents that cold call, follow up, and book appointments. We also create high-volume personalized email systems that help businesses scale without hiring more people. The impact is simple: our clients get more meetings booked and more sales closed with fewer resources.
Tell us about the moment you finally felt like you went from wantrepreneur to entrepreneur.
When I landed my first paying client without spending a dollar on ads, I knew I had something real. That was the shift: from thinking about building a business to realizing I was already doing it.
Describe the moment or period in your life/career that motivated you to make the entrepreneurial leap.
I was studying finance, planning to go the traditional route. I had my path mapped out. But life doesn’t always go the way you expect. I was spending all my time sending resumes, going to interviews, and getting offers I didn’t even want. I realized I was chasing a career I wasn’t interested in just because it was the “right” path. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. I started cold emailing businesses to see if anyone would pay me to get them leads. And it worked.
Describe a tool, service, or software that has been a game-changer for your business. How does it contribute to your success?
Make.com. That tool let me build full systems without needing to write code. I used it to launch voice agents that run 24/7 and cold email systems that send 2,000 personalized emails a day. It turned everything from a manual service into something scalable. Without it, I’d still be doing things one by one.
We know that success is very often a non-linear path. Tell us about a failure, pivot point, or lesson that changed your course or direction and helped to get you where you are today.
Early on, I was building things I thought were impressive: AI callers, automations, custom tools. But no one wanted them. I was selling features, not outcomes. The turning point was when I stopped trying to show off what I could build and started focusing on solving real problems people actually cared about. That shift is what made people start saying yes.
What unconventional strategy did you employ that significantly impacted your business?
I started forcing my brain to come up with 20 different ways to make money every day. Most ideas were bad. Some were average. But a few turned into my biggest wins. It’s not easy to sit there and think with no distractions, but once you push past that wall, you realize how creative you actually are. That habit built momentum and gave me clarity on what to focus on.
What’s something you wish you knew sooner that you’d give as advice for aspiring or newer entrepreneurs?
Volume solves everything. I used to overthink every move. Tweak the offer. Tweak the site. Wait for things to feel perfect before reaching out. That got me nowhere.
What changed everything was blasting. More outreach. More tests. More offers. You don’t figure things out by thinking. You figure them out by doing it 100 times and seeing what sticks. That’s when you start getting real feedback. That’s when things start to click.
